20 Watts is a collective creation project carried out with and by residents of the Lyon metropolitan area in professional integration, accompanied by the choreographer Jordi Galí and a team of collaborators. By the gesture of the body and the gesture with matter, Jordi Galí accompanied 30 people to imagine, design and manufacture with their own hands a luminous, modular, monumental and eco-dynamic assembly presented at the Fête des Lumières in Lyon on December 8, 2021.
Through this collective creation, the aim has been to encourage, support and enable the creativity, inventiveness and initiative of each individual and the group as such to crystallize, and to encourage the physical and mental readiness to invest in such artistic action.
The cultural and social partners, technical enterprises (joinery), spaces, skills and tools necessary to achieve such a process of artistic creation were gathered around the participants: To draw together the path that leads from intuition to idea, define its process of realization, create a work and finally share it with an audience. The experimentation and construction-creation sessions took place from September to early December 2021, culminating in the presentation of the lighting installation at the Fête des Lumières. They took place in alternance at the Subsistances in Lyon, and in workshops of partner companies (carpentry, scenography workshop). An exhibition and a film tracing all the steps were made, allowing to keep a lasting trace of this unprecedented process.

In the courtyard, 20 Watts, a monumental assembly has been erected, with the participants activating the lighting of small bulbs by hand, a subtle touch.
‘It's an illustration of the path that this first Fête des Lumières of the new mandate is seeking to take: giving space to great artists who are not specialists in light, but who have the ability to integrate it into their creativity. This is the case with Jordi Galí, who will be presenting 20 Watts at Subs during and beyond the four days of festivities.'
