Nebula - creation process

In a kind of archaeology of the future, Nebula asks which other relationships to time, to production, to the earth and to chimeras could emerge to design a new cosmogony. Which mutations and hybridisations could emerge from chaos?

Nebula explores the continuity between the human body and nature as a meeting of force fields. Through a search for materials and gestures that are both archaic and telluric, metamorphoses occur. Aiming to reveal the original state of the elements and their magical potential. Like a healing ritual, Nebula is also a journey into the unknown, a moment of eclipse to glimpse other possible worlds. The future and the past come together, and the spiralling passage of time leads us into a ‘prehistoric science fiction’.

‘With “Nebula”, dancer and choreographer Vania Vaneau delivers a spellbinding solo performance. (...) a telluric ritual of healing for the body and the world.’

In this show, where minerality and the blending of materials take centre stage, the material itself becomes a dancer in its own right. Vânia Vaneau's solo performance becomes a duet between the dancer and the material, which ultimately merge to form a single body. (...) A must-see!

‘Like a phoenix, the artist dances on the ashes of an ancient world to rebuild it better.’

‘In this solo performance on a charcoal bed, evoking ecological disaster, she manipulates clay and gold during a shamanic ritual to heal a desolate land.’

‘The piece takes on an irreversible resonance, where its shift prepares, both in substance and form, for the advent of a different world, conquered and not subjugated. Without discourse or moralising, but somewhere between dream and folklore, the artist offers a flamboyant picture of the journey towards freedom.’

"Gold and stones, luminous transparencies and shimmering reflections enliven the darkness of Nebula, while the “cosmic techno” music created by Puce Moment completes this universe."
