Vânia Vaneau was one of the 21 artists invited to join the European project Life Long Burning (LLB) during 2020-2022 by the invitation of ICI-CCN de Montpellier
Several projects took place in this frame :
- support for production and touring of the solo NEBULA
- research laboratories
Vânia Vaneau proposed three laboratories that provided an opportunity to meet artists and directly or indirectly intersect three groups, three venues in three cities from three countries: Leuven/Belgium, with Stuk; Stockholm/Sweden, with MDT and Montpellier/France with ICI-CCN and the Master EXERCE and ESBAN Nîmes.
The starting point was the research process for NEBULA, a solo created in 2021.
Lasting from 2 to 5 days, the laboratories alternated between indoor and outdoor moments on the specificities of local landscapes: the Meerdael forest in Leuven, Kungshattan Island in Stockholm and the landscapes and caves of Lozère.
The proposal was to enter into a relationship with a local natural space that carries its own history, and then to construct individual and group practices/rituals in this place. The focus was on care, land art, crafts, activations of various human and non-human elements, both natural (earth, stones, trees, sky, animals, fire...) and artificial (any other type of material that could be used).
The practices were first shared within the groups and then transmitted to groups in other towns in the form of a score or mail art. Aiming to link the different geographical spaces to recreate a single nature woven by encounters.
These laboratories were the starting point for the Healing Rituals workshops.
